What are the attributes of the most successful business people that set them apart from other people?
There have been so many changes to the global economy over the past year. One of the great certainties is that things will continually change. Many people are still concerned about their ability to stay in business and are looking to find new ways to navigate the flurries.
Interestingly, large numbers of businesses continue to grow and thrive in our business and financial environment. So what are these successful individuals and organisations doing differently?
One answer is that they have a new way of looking at business, new ways to get an edge in business and a “can do” attitude. They see their environments as a place filled with opportunities that require a different way of viewing situations that present themselves.
The key to their success is the way these people use their brain – they are literally “piloting the brain for success”. It is based on modelling people who have achieved excellence and then replicating it in our own lives.
It is about understanding how our sensory experiences (sight, hearing, touch, taste, small and feeling) are filtered and how this is translated into our conscious and unconscious thoughts – thus determining our results.
It’s about the language we use to describe, categorise and analyse our reality – through which we give our experiences meaning. For example – people describe the cup as either being half empty or half full – and getting very different outcomes because of it.
It’s also about how our thoughts and behaviours are programmed which determine our outcomes or results. Since our brain is run on our programmes they can be reprogrammed to achieve better outcomes. On eof the key aspects to success is – If you are not getting the results you desire you need to do something different!
Modelling excellence is achieved by analysing the model of thinking and behaviour of a successful individual or business to determine how they achieve their outcomes. Through removing limiting beliefs, focusing on desired outcomes and refining our strategies, we can replicate excellence in our own lives and businesses.
To replicate and achieve success consistently we can follow the 5 principles for success.
The five Principles for Success are:
- Know your outcomes – focus on the goals you want to achieve (rather than what you don’t want) and make your goals SMART goals
- Take action – do something everyday, however small, towards achieving your goals – have a can do attitude by asking “how can we?”
- Be aware – notice what is going on for you and those around you as feedback to being on track
- Develop flexibility – to make any necessary adjustments to achieve your goals
- Be excellent – strive for excellence in everything you do.
